C) No league games on Super Bowl Sunday (February 3rd) and St. Patrick’s Day. (March 17th)
On February 10th and March 3rd, all league games will be at Katch.

I. The basics
A) Matches: Each team will play one other team each week. The schedule is located on the website.
B) Teams: We have twenty-four teams for the 2019 winter season. We have split the league into three divisions. Each division consists of eight teams. Each team plays the other seven division opponents.
C) Schedule: As mentioned, each team plays the other seven teams in their division. Prior to the start of the season, all teams were asked their preference for location and game times. We have accommodated all teams as best we could.
D) Start times: All teams will be scheduled for either 12:00PM, 1:30PM, 3:00PM or 4:30PM at Katch.
The Beer Garden games take place between the hours of 12:30 and 2:00PM. Times/opponents are listed on the schedule.
E) Location: ALL games will be played in the back room of Katch Astoria. Katch will put out food each week for league players. We will also have our own waitress in the back room. The Beer Garden will have bar and restaurant service available for all players each Sunday.
F) Board assignments: We will have three cornhole games in the back room of Katch during each time period. Board assignments will be posted at the bar. Katch will have multiple boards set up for league play. The matchups will be listed for each board upon arrival at the Beer Garden.
G) Equipment: The league will provide all necessary equipment: cornhole boards, bags, score sheets, score boards, pens, etc. we will update the standings every Sunday night.

II. How to Play
A) Boards will be set up directly facing each other with 25 feet between the front edge of each board at the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden. The distance is a little bit shorter at Katch due to the dimensions of the back room.
B) Each game will be played with two players. Each set will have the same players for up to three games
C) The home team gets to pick which side of the board they get to throw from in sets 1 and 3. The away team makes the selection in set 2. After the decision is made, your partners pitching box will be directly across.
D) The Home team in sets 1 and 3 gets to decide if they want to throw first or second. They may choose which player on their team throws first.
E) Scoring and points-After all bags have been thrown, a bag remaining on the board is worth 1 point. A bag that went in the hole is worth 3 points. Add up how many points you earned and compare them to your opponents. We will be using CANCELLATION SCORING. Thus, equal points cancel each other out so that only one team can score per round. EX: Team 1 thrower scored 5 points. Team 2 thrower scored 3 points. The score for that round is 2-0 Team 1. The team that scored points throws first the next round. If there is no score, the last team that scored points will continue to throw first.

III. Weekly Format
A) All league matches will consist of three sets. Each set will be decided by a best of three games. (the first team to win two games wins the set) Each game is up to 15 points, cancellation scoring. There is no penalty for going over. All three sets are to be played each week. If teams are tied and a team hits 15 in a round, the game is not complete until the round is over. Ex: two teams have 13 points. On throw 1, Team A scores three points on their first throw. The game is not over until all bags have been thrown.
B) Scoresheets-all teams will receive a scoresheet each week. Captains exchange the scoresheets prior to each set to announce who is playing.
C) Scorekeeping-all teams are required to keep score. We will have table scoreboards for each game of cornhole. One player from each team is responsible for keeping an eye on the score, with the score announced after each round and updated on the scoreboard. In the event of a dispute, a league official will be present to arbitrate any issues that may arise in the realm of scoring.
D) Illegal throwing-an illegally thrown bag will be removed from the board and no points will count for that throw. Examples of illegally thrown bags include: throwing outside the pitchers box; (which is throwing with your foot in front of the board) where the bag is touching the ground or another apparatus or bags that bounce.
E) Standings: The standings will be reflective of the total number of sets won. AT most, a team can win 3 sets in one week. In the event of a tie, the first tiebreaker is head to head
F) Playoffs: The playoffs will take place on March 24th. Twelve teams will make the playoffs. The top four teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs. The division winners and the highest second place finisher will receive a bye to the second round.

IV. Sportsmanship
A) All Astoria Social players are expected to maintain good sportsmanship to their opponents, teammates, league officials and employees of both Katch and Bohemian Hall. If an individual fails to adhere to this rule, they may face ejection, suspension or removal from the league, after a league review by head officials.
